A Journey from the Online Classroom to South Korea 🇰🇷
What began as an opportunity to teach students online evolved into an unforgettable experience. Thanks to my company, I had the incredible chance to visit South Korea and immerse myself in the country, its culture, and my teaching community in person.
During my stay, I met some of my students face-to-face and gained insight into their world beyond the online classroom. I visited academies, connected with other online students, and experienced the excitement of engaging with learners I had previously known only through a screen.
One of the highlights was camping with some of my students. Sharing this experience outside the classroom allowed us to relax, enjoy each other’s company, and form bonds in a completely new way. These are the memories that make teaching truly rewarding.
I also had the opportunity to hike Samsung Mountain with my adult students. Stepping away from our usual lessons to appreciate the stunning Korean landscape together was a remarkable experience. Hiking, talking, laughing, and enjoying the outdoors created lasting memories.
Naturally, no trip to South Korea would be complete without exploring Seoul, the vibrant capital. I thoroughly enjoyed discovering the city, trying new activities and foods, sightseeing, and learning more about Korean traditions and culture. Experiencing Korea firsthand gave me a deeper appreciation for the country and the people I have taught from afar.
This journey reminded me that teaching encompasses much more than lessons, vocabulary, and grammar. It is fundamentally about people, relationships, culture, and shared experiences.
I am profoundly grateful to my company for making this journey possible and allowing me to expand my role as an ESL teacher beyond the online classroom. Without their support, I would never have had the chance to create such incredible memories.
From meeting students in person, camping and hiking together, visiting academies, to exploring Seoul — this was truly an unforgettable chapter in my teaching journey. 🇰🇷❤️
